University of Adelaide Geology Professor Ian Plimer has recently published “Heaven and Earth”, a book “aimed at the average punter” in which he refutes the notion that climate change is happening by the hands of humanity.
The book has received extensive mass media coverage including three positive pieces in The Australian newspaper. Barry Brook, a colleague of Professor Plimer’s, challenges his arguments and questions the evidence Plimer uses in his book. Brook has appeared to a much lesser extent in the mass media.
Craig Nielsen took this opportunity to talk to Professor Brook about Plimer’s book and the general state of the “climate debate” in academia and the mass media.
Barry Brook holds the Foundation Sir Hubert Wilkins Chair of Climate Change and is Director of Climate Science at The Environment Institute, University of Adelaide. You can check out Barry’s blog Brave New Climate for his review of Plimer’s book, ongoing discussion and media links.
